We’re a theatre company and collective of artists company based at Darwen Library Theatre. We make art, theatre, films and generally GREAT STUFF, for community, encouraging Darweners (pronounced Darreners – it’s important you know that) to embrace their creativity and celebrate where they live.
We specialise in making community-driven work. Our previous projects have included ‘A Call To Legs’ a tap-dancing and art project for young people in Darwen, delivered over zoom during the Coronavirus pandemic, and ‘T’Other’ a theatre piece which explored the divides in our community and the fear of difference in which they are rooted.
We bring people together through the sharing of stories. We blend visual art, with writing, theatre and performance. Our work engages our community at every stage, and we place as much importance on the process of creating together as we do on presenting a final product.
Since 2018 we have been the resident theatre company at Darwen Library and Theatre, our latest project ‘Three Loud Knocks’ uses this wonderful local building as a backdrop to tell the history and story of our town.
We love collaborating and if you have a project you would like to discuss with us, we’d be delighted to hear from you. You can get in touch with our producer: email@example.com
‘Three Loud Knocks’ is a series of three fifteen-minute films with quirky characters, delightfully animated stories and silly songs, all set in the town’s elegant and beautiful Carnegie Library. They are a celebration of the town’s rich heritage.
It’s nighttime in Darwen’s beautiful library and Suzanne the librarian has gone home for the night. The kindly ghost of Mr Joseph Pomfret emerges from his portrait and begins to tidy up when the old library book lift mysteriously starts making noises and sending up stories from the town’s past. Carnegie the dog and Klever Kaff the singing hedgehog accompany Mr Pomfret on his charming adventures inside our historic library.
