SHAW | BACH
Caroline Shaw’s love of Bach’s ‘really juicy’ music (her words!), has had a clear influence on her own unique avant-garde voice. Growing up playing Bach’s solo violin partitas herself, her Pulitzer Prize winning piece ‘Partita for 8 Singers’ takes inspiration from the suites’ structures. In this performance, we put Bach’s Partita No.2 in direct conversation with Shaw’s Partita. That forms the premise for the entire performance; two composers, three centuries apart.
The voices of Kantos Chamber Choir are joined by the stellar string soloists of Manchester Camerata for this enchanting, rhythmically driving, intense exploration of these two giants of the Western classical music world.
